5 Pro Tips for Awesome Camping Trips

Camping trips are always a blast. Whether you are hiking to the top of a mountain, choosing the most scenic view for a campsite, roasting marshmallows by the campfire, or telling ghost stories around the campfire – these trips bring people together in ways no other events do.

It is an experience that can be shared by families, friends, and good acquaintances too. Camping may not even be your forte but we bet that following our tips would take it to another level.

  1. Choose the perfect tent

One of the most important elements when camping is the tent you choose. There are many types of tents to consider, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Each tent has specific features (or lack of) that it provides, which can be very important when camping.

You need a tent that will hold up against nature and keep you safe through the night. Some tents are made to be easily assembled, while others require more thought and foresight into proper placement.

No matter what type of tent you choose, you should first have a good idea of where you will be using the tent to have an enjoyable trip. Also, remember to securely store your food items inside the tent. Wild animals are going to be attracted to your food and go near your shelter; you don’t want to escalate the situation and have to use a gun to immobilize an animal.

  1. The right kind of sleeping bag

Sleeping bags are a nice item to have, but what is the right kind? Sleeping in a tent is not the same as sleeping in a boat or an SUV.

Your choice of sleeping bag will directly impact your experience on many levels. You need to consider factors like: the weight of the sleeping bag, is the sleeping bag roomy enough for you, is it warm enough, can you stuff it into a small area, and is it comfortable to wear and carry around? Get one with good customer ratings and reviews.

  1. Stay warm in winter camping

We all know winter can be a brutal time of year to head outdoors, but it doesn’t have to be. You can prepare yourself and your family for the winter months by doing the right things now. The best way to do this is by preparing for it and not waiting until a few days before the snow starts falling.

It’s a good idea to start with the basics, which is dressing in layers. Also, wear heated gloves and garments.

  1. Keep bugs away

Camping is a great pastime, as you get to enjoy the beautiful open spaces away from all the busy cities. However, it can be very challenging when it comes to having fun with family members and friends, especially when bugs are involved.

Now, we aren’t talking about the cute woodland denizens you might encounter but fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes, oh my! Despite all of our best efforts, Mother Nature can wreak havoc on us humans. You can bring bug sprays and apply anti-bug creams to deter insects from biting—keeping you fully relaxed while enjoying the great outdoors.

  1. Staying clear of animals

If you happen to camp in a place where wildlife abounds, then you might want to learn a few tips on how to deal with them. Wild animals can attack without warning, so it’s important to stay clear of them.

First of all, make sure that you are camping in a designated area. Make sure that your food supplies are stored safely to avoid attracting animals.

But when you do encounter a bear, stay calm and back up slowly. Equip yourself with bear spray and try to give it as much space as possible. You can also go for a gun instead, as it can easily incapacitate the bear. Safety is always the number one priority, and we don’t want to take chances.

Before you go, keep the above tips in mind. Now you’re ready for that camping trip!
